Laptop Lifts are made of soft and smooth rubber. The adhesive is very resistant to heat and sticks permanently. It will not make a mess the way cement or glue does. The adhesive and the specific shape of Laptop Lifts have a lot of strength against the side to side bumps and bangs that a laptop endures. However, they can be pulled straight up for removal without too much effort. The remaining adhesive can be rubbed off with your fingers.
The height is about 1/4" (6mm) and the width is about 1/2" (12mm). The lengths are 6" (15cm) and 2" (5cm). The package is 8 inches x 4.25 inches x 0.5 inches.
Laptop Lifts will fit on almost any computer. If your computer has very tall feet or varying heights on the bottom of the case, Laptop Lifts may not be effective for you. By using a combination of the Lifts provided you should be able to find spots to place the Lifts so that they will not interfere with any of the computer's operating ports and still support and balance the computer. Be sure to test your placement before committing. Look at the installation instructions. If you are still not sure, contact us and a representative can walk you through an installation.
Laptop Lifts should not be cut in most cases. The curved surfaces on the product direct forces of
impact back toward the body of the computer. If there is an exposed vertical edge from a cutting the
Lifts will pop right off. HOWEVER, if you are careful they can be sliced easily and cleanly with a razor blade.
You can do this to place them over access doors: mount/stick the lifts as desired and then carefully slice
them vertically with a razor blade where the access doors will need to be opened. You could even wait to
do this step until you actually had to open the access door. With a clean slice like this there are no
exposed edges to the cut.
Laptop Lifts will fit almost anywhere that your computer will. They will fit into any briefcase bag and all but the tightest skin style bags. If you use a computer "shell" product and want the benefits of Laptop Lifts as well the Laptop Lifts can be applied to the outside of the shell.
Yes! if you like working with a laptop cooling pad that has a fan in it at your desk Laptop Lifts can increase the cooling power of your fan by creating additional airflow.
Passive systems have fewer parts to break and Laptop Lifts are nearly indestructible. Passive systems are silent. They enhance the cooling system that was designed into your machine.

Some notebooks have a heavy screen and will tend to tip. Be sure to place at least one Lift as far back as possible under the machine. This can be the fifth or sixth lift from the kit: its only purpose would be to prop up the monitor. We did this on a Gateway and it is more stable now than before the lifts were put on.
